National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC)

A person with a National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) certification is a "National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach" (NBC-HWC), meaning they have completed a recognized training program and passed an exam demonstrating their competency in guiding clients towards achieving their health and wellness goals through lifestyle changes and behavior modification strategies, meeting a nationally recognized standard for health coaching practice; essentially signifying they are qualified to work as a professional health coach with a high level of expertise in the field. 

ISSA Nutritionist

Nutritionists advise clients on nutrition and how it affects their health, helping them make educated choices about their diet and meals. They may also educate the public about nutrition and its impact on various aspects of life.

  • Assess clients

    Evaluate clients' nutritional and health needs, diet restrictions, and current health plans 

  • Develop plans

    Create personalized nutrition plans and meal plans that consider clients' preferences and budgets 

  • Provide counseling

    Counsel clients on nutrition issues, healthy eating habits, and how to make positive changes to their nutrition 

  • Monitor progress

    Evaluate and monitor the effects of nutrition plans and practices, and make changes as needed

ISSA Health Coach

Health coach certification programs help health coaches, prepare for their roles as health coaches by teaching them how to create client plans, run their own businesses, and coach clients. These programs cover a range of topics, including nutrition, behavioral change techniques, lifestyle science, and more. They can be taken in-person or virtually and can take between three to 24 months to complete.

Health coaches, also known as health and wellness coaches, help clients improve their physical and emotional health by making lifestyle changes. They work with clients to develop goals and strategies to achieve them, and to integrate healthy habits into their lives. 

Health coaches may help clients with a variety of issues, including:

Health coaches need certain skills, including: A basic understanding of psychology, Counseling abilities, Empathetic listening, and positive nutrition/ lifestyle changes.

Transformation specialist: 

  • Fitness

    A transformation specialist in fitness helps clients make lasting lifestyle changes, such as exercising regularly or eating healthier. They can help clients identify why they've struggled with a particular habit in the past and teach them strategies to make it stick. 

  • A transformation specialist uses proven techniques to promote positive lifestyle changes. They understand change management and which methods work. They also know which strategies to avoid because they don't affect change.
